Kansas City Bathroom Remodeling sees the latest bathroom trends as they happen, practically. Between trade shows, professional literature and training, and all the ideas Overland Park customers bring to us, we see it all!

If you’re not up on the latest residential bathroom trends, let us enlighten you!

1. A shallow middle cabinet

Such a simple idea, but so much usefulness! Similar to a medicine cabinet, this slim storage space would sit directly between your double sinks in the area where you usually keep shared items like toothpaste, lotions, or medicines.

Everything you need is still conveniently located nearby, but you avoid the clutter. Plus, it’s great to be able to replicate the design of your lower cabinets with something that’s at eye level.

These cabinets are no more than 4 inches deep, but they are plenty big enough to store just about anything that you would typically leave out on the counter.

2. An all-black bathroom

This bold design is sleek and modern. To keep it from being pitch black, we recommend marbled black tile or actual black marble for your countertops. You can highlight with white, silver or gold accents for an ultra-luxe finish.

Besides being extremely stylish, your black floors and countertops will be much easier to keep clean than white, and they won’t stain.

If all-black is just too much, you can talk to a contractor or designer about how to use more black in your bathroom to mimic this look without going all the way. A black floor, for example, would make a huge statement without having to do much else to the room.

3. The vanity in front of a window

Yes, usually there’s a mirror there, but we have many customers who tell us that they do their grooming in front of a dressing table, either in the bathroom or in the bedroom, due to lighting or just a desire to sit down while doing makeup, hair and other tasks.

For these people, a window behind the sink is an interesting idea, especially if it looks out on a beautiful landscape. Rather than watching yourself brush your teeth every morning, you could be taking in a sunset or gazing on fresh dew.

You can still place a mirror somewhere else in the bathroom without sacrificing your view, or you can opt for no mirror if you have one in an adjacent room, such as a full-length mirror or a dressing table with a magnifying mirror in the bedroom.

While simple, all three of these ideas incorporate things we haven’t seen before in Overland Park home trends. It’s likely that these styles will transition into other areas of the home such as the kitchen because of their high style and usefulness.
