KCBR Design | Remodel is a local family-owned business proudly serving the Kansas City metro for eight years.

After you have had your in-home consultation and a clear scope of work is determined, we are able to provide a detailed estimate. This generally takes 7-10 days after the initial consult. Once you have approved your estimate, a contract signing at our office will be scheduled. A packet of information will be provided detailing our processes along with instructions and additional information for what to do and expect before, during, and after your remodel.

Next, you will meet with your designer. This usually takes 2-3 weeks after the contract signing, however this could change depending on the time of year. Our design process is specifically tailored to each client therefore the duration of this stage of the process varies depending on the client, type, scope of work, and size of the project. Once your vision has been put to paper, the process of material selections begins. You can expect a minimum of four selection consults with your designer, with a of mixture show room appointments and in home consultations.

At the end of design, a walkthrough with your designer and remodeling manager will be scheduled. This is to discuss any last minute questions over the design, any changes/add-ons from the original quote, and ensure everything is in place and ready for construction to begin. Once selections have been made and final approval is given, all materials will then be ordered.

Finally, before any work begins a preconstruction walkthrough will be done by our remodeling team to
discuss all the details which have been finalized with you.

Each project we take on is different and the duration of work depends on the size and scope of the project. Typically, kitchens and basements are 8-12 weeks, bathrooms 3-8 weeks, and main level or whole home remodels are 12-16 + weeks.

The short answer is yes. We promote livable remodeling and do everything in our power to make the experience as least disruptive to your daily routine as possible. However, every remodel is different and there are some exceptions to this rule which can be discussed further if necessary. Should you choose to temporarily relocate during your project, KCBR Design | Remodel can recommend vendors to assist you with the moving, storing, and organizing of your belongings.

Every remodel is different, but generally we suggest that the following steps be taken in order to protect your belongings. 

• Remove any items on the wall (artwork, photos, shelves etc.) leading up to the work area and any smaller items in the work area should also be removed.
• Closets in the work area should be emptied so we can seal them prior to construction.
• Prepare a space for your materials. We ask for a spot in the garage or basement about the size of a car for material storage. If materials cannot be stored on site KCBR Design | Remodel can arrange for storage at an additional cost.

Generally our clients purchase all materials through KCBR Design | Remodel and our preferred vendors. This enables us to coordinate the timing of deliveries to line up with your project start date, track materials, and handle of any issues should your materials arrive damaged or missing parts. More importantly this allows us to pass on industry discounts when applicable to our clients. We believe in being fully transparent, which means we will show you our cost and our markup, so there is no second guessing when it comes to pricing. We have fostered long standing and strong relationships with our local vendors and suppliers, however you’re never limited to just our preferred vendors.

Not all construction requires a permit, however we pull permits for all basement projects, whole home remodels, and attic finishes. Other remodels that would require a permit would be for example: any project where there are the addition of breakers or the moving of load bearing walls. A typical bathroom remodel where everything stays in the same location and just gets upgraded will not need a permit. We will also pull a permit at the requests of our clients on any project at the clients expense.

Yes. Like many design and remodeling firms we do utilize some sub-contractors on our jobs. Our sub-contractors are fully vetted and are companies we have built relationships with over the years so you can rest assured they are dedicated and share the same KCBR Design | Remodel values and standards of work.

We offer a two-year warranty on our workmanship. If something is not installed properly, it is covered. However, if there is a product with a manufacturer defect, this is not covered under the KCBR Design | Remodel warranty. Our clients are responsible for keeping any information for the manufacturer warranties (generally lifetime) that come with all material selections.
